Introduction
Trends/MoneyTalk and Morningstar are pleased to invite you to the sixth Fund Summit in Brussels on 8 February 2012.
The New Normal
Two major economic shocks in three years’ time have shaken the perspectives of the fund sector. At the same time, traditional risk boundaries have been severely challenged in the fixed income asset class. Risk averse customers continue to demand more secure investments products, but still with a return above inflation. The banking and insurance sector as a whole will have to meet to meet with new regulations (transparency, Basel II, Solvency II,…) in order to comply with the effort of the supervisors to restore financial stability and, by doing so, equally restore the confidence of customers. The restructuring of the financial sector will have an impact on the fund sector as well, with both positive and negative aspects.
